Ive got a bit of chicken and the egg thing going on here -
i need to grow rubber to help make wires, but you cant grow the rubber in hydroponics since the growlamp needs power lol.

The only way i think would be to have wild growing rubber plants.

Apart from that, what other basic components could be made w/ things found in default?
off the type of my head, i thought maybe using sheetmetal from 'Signs' (or making a craft to convert steel blocks to steel rods?), and creating dynamos and interrupts

so... rubber, dynamos, interrupts, and some sort of transformed metal, with four basic components like that one should be able to craft all items from power. ?

next up a natural resources mods to fill in the gaps lol

oh ps ppl will have to be careful with geothermal powerstations, depending how its built flammable things could ignite around it lol

It's out: http://minetestmadblocks.blogspot.ca/ recipes and links.

Hydro/thermal generators do work like turbines, there needs to be water/lava flowing down next to it on any side to work - anyways youll know since the unit stays dark when its in the wrong place and you try to punch it to turn on. Anyways i may post an explanatory video if i can get the desktop recording thingy to work

some thoughts: power are usually not insulated at all, while regular low-current household wiring is usually insulated with some form or plastic rather than rubber. That said, why not derive the insulation from those otherwise useless jungle trees instead? Nothing says what kind of "sap" they have or what can be made from it. ;-)

jungles have been taken out of the latest git :( so it would only work that way until 4.0 becomes stable

I'm sure they'll be re-added, probably as another [part of the] lua 'default' mod.

This was released and subsequently removed some time ago now. it proved to be as unstable and unreliable as other similar mods. :-/

meh.
There's so many mods that add what people call ''electricity'' now...let's try not to make minecrafters' mistakes and have a few hundred mods that add on/off signals that all interfere with each other and are all slightly different as to satisfy each person's idea of electricity...
There's really only one mod that actually adds ''realistic'' electricity, but it's still in-dev.

Resources are abundant; only money is scarce. People should not have to work hard and remain poor just to pay for the needs of survival.
Society can thrive without money - but only if productive members of society are rewarded for being productive.

If possible, you could make this mod so that its wires could be an alternate means to transmit energy for the technic, lulzpack, and mesecons mods. Transformers can speed up and slow down transmission speeds.

I really like the mod but think it should be a part of mesecons, the power lines themselves look really good tho. Would be nice to see parts of this like the wires and technics coal generators put into mesecons along with some new features. I also think it should be possible to produce electricity from creating a reactor using mesecons, maybe adding reactor rods to place underwater connected to wiring. So in other word id like to see this and technic merge into mesecons with a few added features. Having said that i also would like the pipeworks mod to move water so the reactor can cooled with circulating water :). But yeah i know my request is a big ask.

I stopped developing this a long time ago for two reasons:
- spent more time hiding circuits in buildings than actually building
- the near-total uselessness of circuits over long ranges

my newer modpack has wireless power with frequencies, along with chat-command + GUI to control those frequencies, along with over a dozen light fixtures :-)
