also, can you make water turbines that ''power'' stuff when a flowing water node is above them?
And even better, a Lava turbine (or heat/energy converter) that makes ''power'' when a lava node is near it...?
And possibly, if you want to, a ''wind turbine'' that generates ''power'' when there are at least 16 orso air nodes in front of it and 1 behind it?
If you upload the mod, maybe I can see about making plugins to this mod that add different ''sources'' of energy...eh?
----------------
Now that we have this mod, what's next would be electric ovens (for cooking food), electric lamps (for light), maybe even (later) a crafting factory that adds a block where you can put stuff into it like you would craft something, but there is no output slot, to the left would be a ''materials bin'' with stuff in it, and to the right is an ''output bin'', so that stuff can be crafted without someone having to click every half-second. That may not even be possible, yet, so let's not count the chickens before they hatch...
The possibilities are endless - maybe we can even get a ''TV mod'' that streams video from a ''broadcast apparatus'' to televisions (not really, the video being streamed is just the animation texture for that ''channel'') depending on this mod. Or even, an advanced form of communication, where someone can change the ''channel'' of a special node and on that channel it receives text input from anyone else who enters text into a block of that type on that channel - and the user can enter text too...and without it being logged server-side...but that's also just an idea.
EDIT: maybe it won't be ''goodbye coal'' after all - maybe we can also use a special type of furnace that uses coal or other fuels to make electricity...
EDIT2: we may also be able to make a plugin that adds ''tunneling blocks'' that work like a moving wall, and run along a high-voltage wire through a small tunnel, and as they hit nodes they move the nodes to their ''inventory'', and can be removed later...that would drastically simplify mining...

Wrote that before on irc, but will do that again here:
there gonna be 4 aviable sources of power
1. Coal driven generator. First aviable. You will need it to power alloy furnaces -
with them you will be able to create alloys, smelt materials and dope them with semiconductors to craft solar panels.
2.Solar panels, basic source of energy. Tiered and upgradeable.
3. Geothermal generators. will need lava and water around to produce power. Useful underground where theres no sunlight.
4. Nuclear reactors. Producing lots of power. But when not properly cooled...... boooom ;)

thinkin also about water driven ones. maybe will add them too.

For storage there will be battery boxes. Also tiered and upgradeable.
And portable, recharcheable batteries. Used to transport energy or to power tools.
Like mining drills, jetpacks.

Machines:
Electric Furnace: same funcionality as coal driven, but 2 times faster
Alloy Furnace: used to produce alloys
Tool Repairer: with power you can fix your tools (need better name tho)
Macerator: grind ore lumps to dust. one lump gives 2 ore dust, which can be smelted to ingot.
Basically doubles mining income. Also used to grind cobble to sand, and for rubber production.
Recycler: used to smelt all old and unnecessary stuff.Note: only metal parts could be taken back. All wood, stone is lost.

More machines to come ;)

Can you please upload a .zip of what you have so far? I think some people would like to try it out and see the possibilities of this mod, and that will help with development.
Also, as this will be a pretty big mod in the future (most likely), it may be best to have it as a separate mod from your technic mod and have it depend on this mod.
EDIT: I just looked at the second video - good job with the wires, they look way better than before and way better than mesecons ever will.
also, the wires could be made with copper from the moreores mod, and high-grade conductors could be made of gold (a very good conductor, it's even used in cell phones)
EDIT2: also I see that you are good with modifying the ''menu'' as the electric furnace has a modified ''menu'', so recycling tools could use a special furnace that has a different form of ''cooking'' registered for it (known as SRC in the furnace LUA stuff) maybe that could be renamed to REC for recycling tools...?

upload with initial things done will come today
ive made all already and testing it before it could go public
bout wires: as you could propably notice with 1st video: common cable is called Low Voltage Copper Cable
That implies two things: Higher tier cables will come also (MV and HV), and later when i add loses, better material used for a cable will efecft with smaller loses over a distance.

Awesome!
I have an idea for the 3 ''tiers'' of wires:
-Copper (low-voltage)
-Gold (Medium-voltage)
-Mithril (High-voltage)
that would fit in perfectly with the moreores mod and would give the ores more purposes than just for tools.
I think that the ''crafting'' for wires should be something like:
M M M
where M = material and X = nothing
would give 8 wires (or more)
When you upload what you have made so-far, may I make some ''water turbines'' as another energy source?

by now recipe is like
C C C
x- nothing C - copper ingot an gives 6 pieces of wire
when i will be done with rubber tree, recipe will change. cables have to be insualted. non isolated cable will take ur hearts at contact.

eh, mesecons still resemble that dark-yellow color of the old mese texture...looks kinda disgusting and even worse as nodeboxes...

Is this all you do? every time i come here to check out new mods i can guarantee that you will have posted a comment saying that there mod is stupid, it sucks or they are a noob.
If you don't like it just leave it, or create something better... it takes people a lot of time and effort but you wouldn't know that because you are a noob.

Nope, I also
-Grief in Minecraft servers
-Make minetest mods/help with mods
-look for stuff left out of Minecraft (not having to cook bread or cakes, and no peanuts)
-Remove the dead bodies
-compose ideas for mods
And therefore I am not what you hume has come to call a ''noob''. Go away, we do not have the time to deal with pesterbots like you.

Technic mod is updated with power lines. You can check them out now.
Theyre kinda buggy by now i think. Finished all the placing code for the wires and now workin on the power consuption.
BTW, power input/output for each machine is at the bottom.

This mod does not have a lot to do with Mesecons, as has been said several times before..

Here's a rundown of a few differences:

  • Electricity is finite. As RealBadAngel said, in Mesecons we can just use a power plant that provides an infinite source of power. For machines that are powered by energy, this is not good for gameplay (for instance, you could make an infinite block breaker that never runs out of energy). Electricity must be created and stored in order to power machines. Mesecons does not use this concept since it would greatly complicate logic, which it was designed for.
  • Electricity is used to power machines, Mesecons signals are used to control them. Electricity is a resource, and you have to do work to get it. In contrast, Mesecons focuses on signal processing, and includes incredibly powerful mechanics that allow you to build things like a tic-tac-toe machine. Obviously, that machine would be ten times bigger and nowhere near as usable if I had to power every single component.

Basically Electricity is realistic and gameplay-wise has more depth, but Mesecons is powerful, compact, and convenient. Playing with both mods installed is a great deal of fun.
