i really want to see more functional blocks, things like merchants, achievements, other things i cant think of... formspec is really easy but i see a lot of modders using the default sign input.
my theory is that if there are more and better examples then there will be more and better mods

I know its easy, but also a lot of try-rewrite-try again-rewrite again...
