So, I need to have the same version of Mintest on my computer as the version that the server is running in order to participate on the server - OK, done.
Next... what about the various mods and texture packs, do I have to have matching sets of these as well or does the server provide/serve them?
If the server provides the mods and texture packs, then would it be better if I had no mods and no texture packs installed on my end so my computer and the server aren't wasting time and resources trying to resolve whose mods/texture packs to use or override older/newer versions of those mods/texture packs?
or...
Is it better to have matching mods/texture packs so my computer handles the mods/texture packs part while the server handles the game part?
If I have mods/texture packs installed on my computer that the server doesn't have, am I still able to use them when connected to the server or does the server disable those mods/texture packs?
Examples:
Mods - If I have the "watergone" mod installed on my computer but the server doesn't have that mod - would I still be able to use watergone on the server?
Texture Packs - If I use the default texture pack on my computer but the server uses MineToon, on my end would I see the default texture pack or MineToon?
Perhaps all of these questions could be lumped under a much broader question:
What does the server provide or override and what does my computer provide or override when participating on a server?
Thanks.
