Server Help Please

by Nighrmare » Sun Oct 28, 2012 18:59

Hello, I could use some help making a Minetest server. I got it to run, port forward, blah, blah, but I seem to not be able to dig, build or anything else. I can't seem to fix this, any help? PS Can I set an administrator password? I'm running Win7, too.

Maybe you need to do some adjustments in your minetest.conf.

For example (taken from minetest.conf.example)(remove the # from the relevant command):

# Client and server

# Name of player; on a server this is the main admin
#name =

# Server stuff

# Available privileges: interact, shout, teleport, settime, privs, ...
# See /privs in game for a full list on your server and mod configuration.
#default_privs = interact, shout

Yes, but if I dig, the dirt comes back, everything restores itself....

If you wish to become admin, just set "name=" to yours in your config file.
Then check if you have the "interact" privilege (/privs)
If you don't, do: /grant <yourname> all

If it doesn't work, please send us your config file, and the mods you're using.

EDIT: Topywo was first.
The nodes coming back are usually due to the lack of "interact" privilege...

I made a few (a lot of?) mods for minetest: here is a list.

Yes, # means the line is "commented", so it's ignored.
If you want to enable a line, just remove the # before it

1. In the minetest.conf.example are the following lines:

# If true, disable cheat prevention in multiplayer
#disable_anticheat = false

Try to dig after putting in your minetest.conf: disable_anticheat = true

2. Are you using a node protection mod?

3. Don't forget to get out the minetest game, change your minetest.conf and then restart it again for the new minetest.conf settings (I forget a lot of things :-) )

4. What message do you get when a block returns (or none at all)?

edit: 3. I mean getting out so far that you need to use "execute" again to start again, so not just to the menu.

I disabled anti-cheat and now they don't return... Connect to the server if you want.

If you can't connect via this: 192.168.2.150:30000
Try this: 207.190.124.134:30000
