When I connect to Redcrab's Server, Client version different from sver
I am using newly built Jordan4Ibanez' Minetest with 3d mesh. Server says Client version =14 Server=13 cannot join

The build you are using is newer than what redcrab's server is using. Your game and his are not compatible. Use 0.4.3 with 2d players.
You need to update again. 0.4.4 was initially not compatible with 0.4.3 servers. That has since been fixed earlier today.
Re-download the latest sources and recompile, or wait for your software repository guys to update it at their end.

This is fixed? Nice. Is it fixed in both directions? For example, is a 0.4.3 CLIENT compatible with a 0.4.4 SERVER? I would love to upgrade my server, if for no other reason, just to get rid of the bug in sapling growth, but I don't want to alienate my users until a time when packages are made available, and they don't have to compile.
Presently, a 0.4.4 client can connect to a 0.4.3 server, but not vice-versa.
