ubuntu terminal changing ownership from root
go to ubuntu terminal and type this
sudo chown -hR {your username here} filepathhere
sudo makes the computer run sroot (linux's super user)
chown is the change owner command
-hr says all files in the direstory
{your username here} is where you put your user name (no brackets)
then the file path you want to change the permissions of. example"user/home/piggys"

Check out my mod xtrablocks, has some different types of marble that you can build with or mine at different depths

This canbe used to allow ubuntu users to install mods
Check out my mod xtrablocks, has some different types of marble that you can build with or mine at different depths

There's no need to change ownership, a simple chmod will do.
But I guess that's a good idea to describe every possible issue and it's solution.
If I don't need that it doesn't mean anyone else doesn't. My suggestion to add that to Wiki or some place like that. Especially now, when editors needed ;)

You shouldnt tell n00bs to just switch to root and everything will work. If they cant access the files and dont know what "root" is, they shouldnt access/change the files.

That's true. And I never did tell anyone to use root for everything. However, if you were newbie, you'd think differently. One more "solution" supplied with "DO NOT USE ROOT" is a good therapy for adequate newbie.

If you run a build which has RUN_IN_PLACE disabled, just put your mods in:
