You need latest version of Minetest from git to support the `spawn_tree' function used by technic (and other mods dealing with trees like moretrees).

Probably not.
If you want to compile latest version, see this topic.

Maybe you are mixing different installs. Try removing your ~/.minetest/ directory (backup your worlds first, if any), and re-install.

I see: [Plantlife] Loaded (enabled...er...nothing!)

I tried the latest version and it gives: [Plantlife Library] Loaded

Maybe it's plantlife that needs to be updated.

Edit: Did you rename worldedit's folder to worldedit?

It actually is technic that is causing the crash here, but only because your version of Minetest is too old. It must be from git dated January 23 or later.

Be sure you know which copy of minetest you're running if you have more than one, as moretrees, technic, etc. will only work properly with versions of that date or newer.

Also, as Topywo indicated, your version of plantlife is out of date. You should download the latest git of that also (note that this may break some old stuff, but those things can be fixed), as it has been greatly expanded since the version you have.
You might like some of my stuff:
