Turn off your texture atlas. In your minetest.conf, add this:
enable_texture_atlas = false
enable_texture_atlas = false

I thinmlk texture atlas is off by default foot 0.4.5

It is, but Tedypig is still running 0.4.4.

Actually, I got 0.4.5 last night and I'm NEVER looking back. Lol. With 0.4.4 I got an average of 25 FPS and now it's average of 65. Also VanessaE was correct, I turned off the atlas and it straightened out.
