What is purpose of minetest?
The title says it. Anyone knows the answer?

Well there are two things: The engine and the default game.
For the engine: The goal is to create a lightweight engine to support different kinds of voxel based games.
For the default game: Create a survival game that gives the player enough freedom to build nice stuff.
Note: Thats only what I think about it and its not complete. But it gives you an idea.

No. Not engine and not default game. What is purpose of minetest as a whole. Or what was the purpose. The thought that holds it together, like canvas that makes painting posible.

Signature antivirus (Linux only): "grep -iv -- Signature\ virus" (minus the quotes, of course)
Signature goes in stdin, viruses are removed, and cleaned signature comes out on stdout.

They are separate, but they work only together. Are you trying to tell me you were able to play default game without engine?

There are no gols, but u can build whatever you want. Build something on a multiplayer server, so everyone can see your creations of your own individual project.
when i was a joung boy i build with real lego, now many year later i play sandbox games, f.i. minetest, minecraft what ever. With sandbox games i do not have material limits and i do not put my lego-elements back to the box!
