Server Question

by kamarajitsu » Fri Apr 05, 2013 05:45

If I were to start a new public server, and then later down one or two things happens:

1) I lose my internet connection for a long time
2) I decide to uninstall minetest, forever
3) The computer doesn't work anymore

will my server disappear?

Thanks in advanced :)

I don't really know but I think when your internet is slow it will affect your server

Yes. In order for your server to function, you must have a connection to the internet, your computer must be on, and Minetest must be running. If the computer malfunctions, your server goes down.

With that said, your router also needs to be set up to forward port 30000 to your server's internal IP address. If this setup breaks(i.e. you replace your router and never reconfigure it, or your server changes internal IP), you'll go down.
Admin pro tempore on 0gb.us:30000. Ask me if you have a problem, or just want help.
This is a signature virus. Add me to your signature so that I can multiply.
Now working on my own clone, Mosstest.
I guess I'm back for some time.
