Ill continue to post as I do more. Any suggestions on which mods to start off with?

Mesecons? Maybe Technic?
Signature antivirus (Linux only): "grep -iv -- Signature\ virus" (minus the quotes, of course)
Signature goes in stdin, viruses are removed, and cleaned signature comes out on stdout.

Cool deal. I like the idea, the style, and the pace.

You might need to put the mods under ~/.minetest/mods/minetest/ (or ~/.minetest/mods/survival, ~/.minetest/mods/build, etc.) to get them working though.

/me is so famous :D
starblessed, I prefer "Adam" instead of "Pilz".

There are some more points wich might be interesting for noobs:
  • If you download mods from github the folder names have a "-master" suffix. You have to rename it to the name that is in the [] in the forum topic. E.g. you have to make sure that the folder name of this mod: "[Mod] Simple Mobs [mobs]" is "mobs"
  • A bit description how to change/set settings minetest.conf
