Crash when starting game on Acer Aspire One with Windows XP

by tanif_f » Wed May 29, 2013 01:27

This happens to me with versions 4.5 and 4.6. Here is the error message I get:

http://postimg.com/image/143000/error-142099.jpg

I can play with 4.3, 4.3-4a11323-meta and 4.4 (weird colors in this last one).

No error log is generated so nothing more to post here.

Please help.

Thanks.

Does this happen on launch or when you launch singleplayer?

I think shading is broken. Go into the "settings" tab, turn off shaders (god, they're useless).

I want to try playing Minetest 4.6.
Can you provide a download link?

Shaders are not useless, they do the color handling

I've never experienced much of a difference with them on or off (apart from the "shadows" being smoother).

It just happens on launch and no error log is generated.

Shaders are not useless. Fog and (a part of) lighting (e.g. the sunrise/sunset is smoother) is handled with them when turning them on. They also speed things up a bit on decent graphic cards.

My problem is solved by installing PilzAdam´s Minetest build:

but with the xyz´s one the problem still remains so I will use PilzAdam for my Acer.
