Stable server recommendations.

Hello. I would like to set up a private server on minetest 0.4.6. I noticed that most mods on this site use github as their main source of distribution. I would prefer stable builds which don't change rapidly. What mods do you guys recommend that don't force you to use the bleeding edge version of themselves?

You could try asking the respective mod developers to actually post a link to the latest version of their mods that still works on Minetest stable.

As for your question, generally any mod that just provides some decorative nodes (with the exception of framed/colored glass, which use the new alpha channel support for textures), will work correctly in stable.

Mods are so small that stable releases are just not worth it. The latest version of the mod is always the most stable one (if the topic doesnt say something else).

You're missing my point. I wasn't talking about mods compatible with stable (although that is also what I want). I'm talking about stable mod releases.

I was under the impression that players have to download said mods onto their computer. It would be easier for me if I had consistent releases which I knew were stable.

As for my mods, they are always stable. If I throw in bugfixes then I post a notice in the topic (this doesnt happen very often).
I would never release a mod that is "unstable" without explicitly writing it in the topic.
If you dont experience bugs in the mods, then you dont really need to update them.

In case you didn't figure it out, that impression was wrong. Mods are all server-side.
