[Competition] Main Menu

Hello everyone,

we have a new competition here. On the IRC #minetest-dev was decided to make a competition for the new main menu.

Here are the rules:
- The newly integrated dynamic clouds have to be part of design
- The design should look good even with disabled menu clouds
- You can also include suggestions for a new Menu layout itself, but only with code for the new menu!


Tipp:
- To disable menuclouds just add "menu_clouds = false" in minetest.conf

In about a week (?) I will add a poll, then the community can decide what conept looks best.

Actually I just tried to improve the main menu of the current dev-Version. So I used the new opportunities and created costum menuheader.png and menusplash.png

Here is my concept for the competition, but without new menu layout yet (maybe added later).

How you have it the menu flat not all in little imgs?

in the front the menu classic, but in the back, in 3D vue of a plain with mountain and ocean view and a little more accelerated sun and night view.
to see the good lighting of the game


what do u think.

Great ! I'll try this one.
EDIT: Nice, but logo should be the one from menuheader, not in the bg picture. Else when the window is small the logo is below the menu.

*Don't really want default logo, since it has no shadow.
Anyway, here is GIMP file for anyone to play with it.

Inspired by one that sapier did some time back:

Not clearly visible here is that the minetest logo has a yellow halo around it, and the sky is actually transparent so that it will be filled in by the engine's animated menu clouds display. Also available in HDX-flavor. ;-)

IMO this competition became kinda useless, because every game can create its own menu now. So if anyone want supervise this competition feel free to do.

Yes, its still a competition (but a useless IMO), and idk if it need supervision. I wanted point out that i wont do anything on this anymore.

Take a look here: https://github.com/BlockMen/minetest_plus/tree/master/menu. These files costumize the menu. If you dont want/need the moving clouds in background use "background.png" instead of "overlay.png".
