[Mod] UFOs [ufos]

the UFO controls messes up the player movement controlls after exiting. Particularlly if player can fly. I couldn't move down except for dropping like rock by disabling 'K' for flight.

How about make 'breaking'/stopping shift or crouch and 'down' as down?

Another idea is if the player exits or bails (or get shotdown) that the UFO lands.

Other mods to be included like weapons?
Minetest Space cadets?
Build off of to make a space station?

Update coming soon (not ready yet), you may try it on my server if it's open when you read that...
UFOs will now require fuel ! Defaults to obsidian shards (can be modified by the admin)
Probably, but unsure at the moment, that I will add "owners" to UFOs, so you can't steal them...
Please tell what you think about this (I'll upload the new version tomorrow if I have time)...
EDIT: also, they will be easier to control and less laggy...
EDIT2: Thanks for the weapon idea... I'll think about it, but I don't think it will be made soon... Feel free to pull request if you make it ;)

Hey, Zeg9 can you make cars form using your ufo mod? like have them drive on the ground not the sky? and they use gas just like your ufo do but, I think Cars will be cool to see, on minetest.

Minor glitch in latest git of UFOs....there's no depends.txt. Somehow it works in singleplayer but not when deployed to my server as part of a custom game. This was fixed by creating a depends.txt and adding just 'default' to it.

Also, when so deployed, at least in creative mode, clicking the "UFO Box" makes the UFO re-appear, but the box doesn't get removed (I was able to collect it with an admin pick though).

I tried to do that some time ago, but there was a problem... How should it climb nodes ?

@VanessaE: The UFO box should remove now. I didn't use remove_node but dig_node...

I can confirm that my files uploaded to omploader were erased too

Well you could make that actually. Just remove the going up part (if controls.jump or something like that), make it go down even when sneak isn't actually pressed and use fuel only when going forward. Eventually add going backward since sneak could be used for brake, here.

The fuel is defined at top of furnace.lua, if I remember correct. I'll check in one hour if I'm done with homework -_-

I still had them in a folder so I could reupload them fastly, but I was too lazy to start minetest and take the other screenshots ;)

In creative mode, the ufo box does appear in the creative inventory. This is a big problem because that node can't be removed once it is placed. It can also appear by right-clicking a ufo. You will probably want to fix this as soon as you can (maybe make it possible to have the ufo box disappear after a while.)

The ufo box is kept for compatibility because previous versions required that to keep the UFO's owner and fuel data.
Now I need to remove it from creative...
EDIT: ok, forgot to push it. Now ufo box isn't needed anymore.

me too, I followed the guide, when I hold down E nothing happens, except that the charging box drains obsidian and the charge number goes up. Yet the UFO shows no fuel, and won't move.
EDIT; the charging station actually consumes obsidian with or without the UFO. I got it to charge by placing the UFO right next to the charger, on the ground, so it actually overlaps the charger.
EDIT2: Figured it out! Your charging code looks for a ufo furnace 2 blocks away, in the cardinal directions, but not anywhere in between! If you fill in this cube, it should work. Where is your git repo, btw? I might send in a pull request if I fix it.
EDIT3, I've fixed it, my version now searches a 3m radius cube for a station. It's pretty easy to charge now. I have submitted a pull request.
