The (new) official Wiki

by BlockMen » Sun Jun 30, 2013 19:53

Hi everyone,

since the wiki get more and more outdated and the hoster seems to has left Minetest we got a new official wiki at http://wiki.minetest.net

Thanks a lot to xyz, who is hosting it now, so all official is now at minetest.net.

The most important articles are transfered already, so who want's help to complete and update the wiki to the current situation is welcome a lot.

Edit by sfan5: You know the "Alot"? :P (it's "a lot" not "alot")

What should be on the wiki, and what not?

Its a user wiki, so everything that is not modding or core development.

No need to be confused. The old wiki was hosted by a fan page. Now all stuff is under minetest.net, hosted by a core developer and admin of this forum. So that why it is the "official" one ;)

So will more pages be transfered? I don't want to create something that clashes with some yet to come import.

Very few remains.

I have a problem: Wanted to create a FAQ, but when I click on "Save page" it asks me to save it on my harddrive not into the wiki.
The contend of the file:
Your phone or window isn't wide enough to display the code box. If it's a phone, try rotating it to landscape mode.
Code: Select all
The MediaWiki FAQ can be found at:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:FAQ

Is this a bug, because I named the page "FAQ" or am I doing something wrong?

Someone? We really need a FAQ. Also I like to contribute to the wiki. But when it is not working the wiki is useless.

That is fixed now. Clear your browser cache if it doesn't work for you.

Hello,
I am a complete newbie to Minetest. I played for the first time last week. I found it when searching for a free alternative to MineCraft (which I have never played neither :P).
Minetest is a wonderful game, thank you!

While searching for user documentation, I found two wikis. It was not clear which one I should use until I found this thread.

If you google "minetest wiki", the first answer is wiki.minetest.com. The new wiki only is only ranked 3rd.

Could you update the main page of the old wiki and redirect to the new one, I can't do it myself as the page is protected. This will prevent users accessing outdated information (and prevent me from updating the wrong one ;) ).

I'll try to improve user wiki from my first experiments with the game.
